here is my dilemma

having passed the 50k mark for nano, the story is far and far from finished. As in 2-300k worth of unfinished. And it has been hurting my brain a good deal...very confusing story to the point of needing a break.
So..do I continue till the end of the month just because I can?
Or do I try writing the story I was originally going to write and see if I can finish it by the end of the month...or at least 50k worth.

Take the Holiday weekend to give your brain a break, and when Monday arrives see how you feel about each project. Not trying to force it may provide insight into the NaNo Project, or the other might reach critical mass, and you'll have to get it outside of your head before it drives you nuts.
Or, you may decide to chuck it all in favor of a loving, deeply committed relationship... with a bottle of Bushmill's Black Label.
Whichever you decide, you have my respect. I once had to (ahem) adjust the page layout on a 10 page term paper, because I ran out of things to say on page 9. For me, starting a 50K word writing project would be an act of optimism of Pollyannic proportions.
Congratulations!
