We lay in the slim still bed
and quoted other generation's poets
in the ale rimmed edge of night
and the geese kept watch for the moon
We did not make poetry of our own
We did not make each other our own
But lay side by side in the dark
lines from seperate stanzas
The next day you lay your dreams
by the lake and left for stability
I left for other mountains and
other nights of listening
as words and music built
me note by word to more
and quoted other generation's poets
in the ale rimmed edge of night
and the geese kept watch for the moon
We did not make poetry of our own
We did not make each other our own
