drags out soapbox, trailed by large amounts of paper..which consists of this . Read it..I will wait.
Done? Ok,now it would seem that I actually agree with the intent of most of this bill..which is directed against counterfeiting. But
I. it also appears that in true government doublese that individuals downloading for home usage only are included in extremely vague terminology.
2. It allows for the delivery of forfeited properties to groups which are not part of the government.
3. In order for individuals to be notified by the US that their work has been duplicated for counterfeiting they have to pay a fee to the US. Wait...they have to pay TPTB so they can know they have been robbed? Which would lead me to the following possible scenario..the RIAA agrees to operate on their behalf (also for a small fee) and then has the ability to pick and choose which infractions they shall go after?
The only good news is that it is not law yet. It has gone through the House but still has to go through the Senate. Perhaps the bill will be clarified during that process? Or not.
I like to think of happy endings but we are talking about a governmental body here,eh? Ah well...there is always a chance..or is that just be being bardi?
