still catching up as it were

10. Dragon America
Mike Resnick Phobos 2005 258 pages

Mike Resnick is a nice, albeit a tad cynical, fellow. He also seems to be determined to publish more books than Asimov at some point. A near impossible feat but he is trying. Of course a number of the books were actually anthologies of alternative history stories. Which makes this novel a natural. It is not a classic, but who cares,eh? Mike is a storyteller, not an author. And the concept of a North America where Dragons have taken over much of the biological spectrum in much the way marsupials did Australia is a grand treat to play with.

11.Preacher-Gone to Texas
Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon DC/Vertigo 1996 199 pages

This is the first in a long running series of Preacher anthologies drawn from the comic. What is it about? hmm..sex,violence,angels vs demons, religion, a vampire named Cassady that would make Spike jealous. To give you a hint of sorts..Kevin Smith is a huge fan. In fact he wrote the intro to at least one of the volumes. It is much like holding a movie that you need provide only the soundtrack for.

I'm a big fan of the Preacher series. Glad to see someone else is as well!

I am a bit shocked that nobody has optioned yet, given how cinematic it is. But then I am afraid that it would probably get toned down way too much to be enjoyable.
