Peridot is the August birthstone (mine). I think it's ugly...that picture is darker than most peridot I've seen. It's this kind of sickly light green.

*meep* I didn't mean to make you feel bad...it's not you, it's the gem I don't like, and of course they're only assigning qualities randomly. I just can't help griping about getting stuck with a bum birthstone, is all.

Actually, I've never been that crazy about it myself. Most peridot is very pale green - too pale to be pretty. Some is OK. I've always preferred emeralds, myself.
