In theory the heads of each branch of the Corvid clan met once a year at Highland. The reality was more than a bit different. For one thing Corvids are not too much for leaders and such. And while most of them love gatherings, not all do. Nor do any of them really care that much for human units such as times.

So what actually happened is that two or three of them would find themselves wandering out on the deck on night and spend the night drinking coffee at first and then switch to whiskey and ale as they talked about the goings on. Tricks they had played on Coyote or Badger. Obviously they would not talk about being tricked themselves. Although if the winds had happened what happened to one of the others they would mention it. Crow would talk about hearing that Raven had been tricked by Coyote during a card game in Calgary and ended up having to muck stables for a week.

But if Magpie were there it did not matter if anyone had heard anything..for usually what they heard had ended up with a bad ending for the Trickster in spite of the world. And if Magpie was there with them the night usually ended up with just coffee and wandering off.

Although of course when Magpie left there was usually a Coyote-like shadow trailing along behind. For Coyote is, after all, Coyote. Not too logical, but fearless.

Watching a special on Neanderthals and wondering what Creationists make of them? They apparently came first, and were capable of interbreeding with Homo Sapiens when they arrived on the scene. So does God look like a Neanderthal?
