I have always opened doors for people, let them go ahead of me, pick things up, wave say hello, smile, offer help, give the help right away. As I now work at Citibank I see a lot of people coming and going. I hold the door for all of them. Once everyone else has gone I go. When passing in a tight hallway/walkway I always stop and let them pass. What you describe (not the donating. It is my nature to do these things. Always have always will. I even do such things for people that I do not really get along with. And no I do not do it to rub it in their face, I just do it.
