Ok..they have an accent..sign them up. That is pretty much the way it was for awhile. Some of them faded as fast as they came up, some hung around for a bit, some faded and then came back after the fuss was gone (I will get to that later). And a few seem to have lasted for years, some with new material and some simply because they were that good. Not always at the top, which does not make them bad.

Case in point is this morning's video. They were, as it happens, the first rock and roll album that I bought in that long ago day..Kink's Kinkdom. They started out as sort of a protopunk group and then showed us later that they actually had a rather sardonic and quite original twist to lyrics about them.

Obviously the powers that be have every right to change their business model. However, in the interest of customer service and the continued growth I would suggest that Mr Nosik et al also have a responsibility to attempt an understanding of the group mentality of the LJ community as a whole. And at least in the interview,Nosik comes across as bit misanthropic to be in this line of business.

Will I be participating in the boycott? No. I think honestly it is a bit silly. And to be fair the whole administrative structure is fairly new. But let's be honest..does it really make sense to talk about doing away with basic accounts at the same time you get excited about new offices?

Today is the birthday of popular 60s author Philip Roth.

Also on this day in 1962 Bob Dylan released his first, self titled album. The first album had only two original songs on it, the rest of them being covers of traditional and blues songs. John Hammond produced the album for under 500 dollars. In 1964 Sean Connery started the first day's shoot for Goldfinger. And in 1969, the Chicago 8 were indicted (of which more later)
