There are always novels that do not fit into a genre of any sort. For years I have been a fan of Studs Terkel, who is The Oral Historian of America.
Which two facts bring us to World War Z, which is Max Brooks oral history of the Zombie War. This is a zombie novel unlike any you have read, a documentary book of interviews with survivors across the world of the World War Z. I am not familiar with the author, but he does a magnificent job of creating this oral history, to the point where you have to blink and remember it is fiction.
