So, I had just called around to cancel practise for tonight because of the weather when the house goes dark..and then the lights come on and then it goes dark..then the lights go..oh..dark again. And staying so this time. So, we sat around lighting candles and then having a campfire. Well, sort of a campfire..actually we toasted marshmallows with fondue forks over a candle. After 1/2 an our or so we headed up to Highland, with a bit of winding and turning. Grand was closed and there were partial road blockages on McMillan and on Highland. Played three games of rummy (each of us winning and one) and came back to the house, with another detour because McMillan was closed westbound. Thankfully the power was back on by the time we got back. Good thing we had wandered out..4 hours without power can be a bit wearing. Although I am sure my roomies could have come up with something to occupy their time. Ice, have to love it..right?

Epilogue

Those blessèd structures, plot and rhyme--

why are they no help to me now

I want to make

something imagined, not recalled?

I hear the noise of my own voice:

The painter's vision is not a lens,

it trembles to caress the light.

But sometimes everything I write

with the threadbare art of my eye

seems a snapshot,

lurid, rapid, garish, grouped,

heightened from life,

yet paralyzed by fact.

All's misalliance.

Yet why not say what happened?

Pray for the grace of accuracy

Vermeer gave to the sun's illumination

stealing like the tide across a map

to his girl solid with yearning.

We are poor passing facts,

warned by that to give

each figure in the photograph

his living name.

Radio says that you better stay home
build a nice fire try not to be alone
looks like snow
looks like snow
Radio says that you better take care
wrap up in a blanket and be prepared
looks like snow
looks like snow

But you and I could be so happy
if we were together tonight
we could make our own kind of weather
and I'm pretty sure that pretty soon
everything would be all right.

Radio says that the storm's not through
don't go outside if you don't have too
looks like ice
my you look so nice
Radio says the power may go
so stay with someone you really know
looks like ice
my you look so nice

But you and I could be so happy
if we were together tonight
we could make our own kind of weather
and I'm pretty sure that pretty soon
everything would be all right.

much more of an upbeat rock sort of song than usual I think?
