summation of sorts

the 60s..like the Roaring Twenties we could have good times, but we also believed we could and should change the world. We could be as angsty as the Lost Generation but we also had sex drugs and rock and roll. And more than any other generation perhaps in the 20th century, we had hope. My only hope is that there may come another generation as naive..for it is the people who do not know how changeable things are that actually change them. And an old Irish folk quote comes to mind

"It is riches you love, not people. As for us, when we were loving it was people we loved, not riches.

Every generation, regardless of what occurs, deserves a history

but not all have histories that turn into myth.

I do not think it is naive to think that one (or many) can change the world -- the world is a summation of all the people in it; consensual reality is more or less a vote that we all cast. To me, it is rather easy to change the world -- in fact, it is impossible NOT to change it. It *is* changing. The sad thing IMO is that people seem to be rather short-sighted and definitely impatient -- these things take time. There are many "trickle-down" effects of cultural ideas -- the 60s *did* change the world, just not all of it, not all at once. I, for one, as a child of a the 70s definitely appreciate that the 60s existed. The cultural changes that are happening today might not be happening if not for the waves begun in the 60s.

Just my $.02 from over here at the edge of the bell curve.

I think it was the time issue. When you are of a certain age, especially in the 60s but not limited to that era, one does not really have a good grasp on of past and future as a rule. There is is.now..and now.
