Which make for better movies? Better scripts, writers, directors, producers, and, probably, caterers. =)
All the sources can provide a better movie, but I dislike the habit of making 90% of the movies that get promoted heavily from previous movies.
I read comics for: a combination of plot, writing style, and artwork; each take on various levels of importance depending on the author and/or artists and/or specific title.
Of course all of those would make for a whole new poll. And I had to put a combination entry against my better judgement because I agree. Although I would have to say it is easier for me to read a graphic with less than perfect writing than with less than perfect art so to speak. And the thing that really confuses me are graphic collections where each story has a different artist and yet there is a continuing story line.
I came not to mind the different artists in the Sandman series. Taken individually, and on terms of their art alone, there's some I flat out dislike. Neil's writing is so damn good, I don't mind, and, because of the story, even art I would not like at twice otherwise seems to fit. Go figure.
Of course, the whole dream aspect lends itself well to a variety of styles, including disjointed ones, really stylized ones, as well as beautiful photorealistic ones.
