Reading Not By Fact Alone by John Clive, a collection of essays on the writing and reading of History. Prof Clive believes we should continue reading the 'Classic' writers on history,esp the post reformation authors such as Macaulay,Gibbon,etc. While their insights do still have value from the standpoint of examining history, I think they also have value as history itself. One of the ways we can learn about history is by examining the people who wrote the history to begin with.

Up until roughly 150 years or so ago (+/-) the main source of news was the Broadside. Perhaps we should go back to that..perhaps the media sources of today would be more cautious of what they report if they had to make it rhyme?
