"Destiny"

A piece of twisted, rusty re bar,
Like old attempts at oak in the
Field where the asphalt cracks at
The edge of the chunks of
Concrete grown weathered
At the tattered edges.

And words. A semi-shattered
Sign on a road where even
The sporadic traffic of knows
It is slipping into oblivion.
A sign wearing age and
Vandalism like a tired joke.

“Destiny”

Where there was a time when
The music tottered on being in tune.
People believed that they,
Like the clock moved forward.
And a man wrote poems on napkins
For words could bring smiles and drinks

And shared mornings. But now
If there are any napkins left the
Words,like the people,like the
Drinks, like the hopes, are gone.
And the only vestige of the time
Is a twisted piece of re bar and the sign
